9th June 2021. Seven of our team, rendez-vous at the Warren Inn car park and kick off with difficult navigation in the poor conditions. Later in the day temperatures improved with some sunshine. This walk last undertaken 24th July 2019 starting from the Fernworthy Dam, Car Park.
The route passes through the interesting village of Gidleigh, with its small church (Holy Trinity), of Norman (13th century) origin. Nearby are the ruins of Gidleigh Castle, built around 1324, probably as a fortified Manor House. The return route was via Teign-e-ver Clapper bridge, through many hut and stone circles.
Total Distance 12.7 miles (average of three different instrument readings). Summated elevation 1732 ft.
