Meldon to Cranmere Pool. 11.9 Miles, 2034 ft 29th May 2013
W/W 24th October 2018. Meldon Reservoir; West Okement River; Black-a-tor Copse; Dinger Tor; High Willhays; Yes Tor.Four team members made the trip to Meldon Reservoir, in beautiful autumn weather with a temperature around 15 ºC. This is a particularly remote area of Dartmoor, taking in part of the Okehampton Military Range and the two highest points on the moor, namely Higher Willhays, 621 metres (2037ft) and Yes Tor, 619 metres (2031 ft).
Please note that although we didn’t visit Cranmere Pool, I have marked the position on the map. This would have increased our route by approx 3 miles. In the event we covered a distance of 9.3 miles, with a total altitude climbed of 1690 ft. Minimum starting elevation 892 ft.
Interesting to note that parking charges are now applied at the Meldon Dam. £2.00 for the day!……..Mike
