Franklin Totnes Trail. Cicular Walk around Totnes.
Bowden House; Dartington Hall and Dartington Deer Park.
Twelve miles. 30th October 2019.
Todays ‘grande randonée’ was based upon The Franklin Totnes Trail. This is a circular walk around Totnes which has come to life as part of a legacy bequest from a member of the Totnes Ramblers; Edward Franklin.
The total length of the walk is around 6.5 miles. Roger has increased this distance from the start point in Jubilee Road to include variations to Bowden House; Dartington Hall and Dartington Deer Park, in order to extend to a full days walk. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the surrounding countryside at its best, because of the poor weather conditions throughout the day.
Six team members took part, with the weather forecast of poor visibility and rain for the whole day. Fortunately we were able to take morning coffee under the cover of the Totnes Civic Hall; lunch on the Totnes main line railway station and afternoon tea under the bird hide near the Totnes Weir. All functional, but with some chilly discomfort.
Total route length 12.1 miles.
Summated elevation 1599 ft…………Mike
